Game Preview and Team News

Southampton are sitting at the bottom of the table, but their fans are hopeful good things are on the horizon. Why? Because the Saints ended their 6-game losing run in the Prem with a 2-1 win to Everton in the previous round.

It was their first win in the league since October 19. However, they did get two wins elsewhere in 2023. First, they defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 in the FA Cup; then, they beat mighty Manchester City 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.

As a result, the Saints are now 3-0-0 in all competitions in the last 10 days or so. The atmosphere is great in the locker room, but they need to understand that adding another win to the list won’t be easy. The reason is simple – Aston Villa are a much better team.

The Villans do have some problems with injuries, with at least six of their first-team players struggling with fitness. Still, it’s been like that for weeks and Unai Emeri’s boys have done more than okay. They are 2-1-1 in the Prem since the end of the World Cup.

Southampton vs Aston Villa Prediction: Prop Bet

Both of Southampton’s goals in the 2-1 win over Everton were the work of James Ward-Prowse. The set-piece specialist has been the Saints’ key man this season, but he’ll have to continue playing well if his team’s going to get away from the relegation zone.
