Sparta Prague vs. FC Copenhagen Preview, Odds, Predictions, Picks

Sparta Prague and FC Copenhagen played one pretty boring game last Wednesday, that saw no goals, and, to be honest, disappointed all the fans that watched it. The Czech champs came to Denmark to stay unbeaten, which they succeeded eventually, and now host the Danish unit having an active result and the home-court edge. They were pretty ruthless in the domestic championship this Saturday, and come into this contest flying high. Meanwhile, FC had to work hard against Odense, but still ended up beating the rivals. 

Sparta Prague (+115) blew away Jablonec in the Czech league, beating the hosts in that one 1-5. It was an extremely dominant performance of the Czech champions, who were confident in all the lines, crushing Jablonec. 

All five goals came in the opening half, with Vitik scoring a brace, Kairinen having two assists and a goal, and Laci delivering three assists, being a perfect playmaker for the team from Prague. 

Since the season started, Sparta played five events, winning four, with the only draw being against Copenhagen on the road. In their previous two domestic contests, Brian Priske’s crew netted five times. The philosophy of the team is to dictate the tempo and to attack. We haven’t seen anything off that in the first event in Copenhagen though.

FC Copenhagen (+250) fell behind Odense, with the guests taking the lead after almost one hour of play in that event. But the Danish title holders have pushed the pedal, leveling in the 77th minute and getting the win in the final minute of the regulation.

The scorer of that goal worth three points and a big momentum was Achouri. This is something that undoubtedly created a massive swing for FC, who looked a bit deflated in certain periods of the opening 45 minutes. 

Sparta has all of its players at its disposal.

FC Copenhagen has certain problems with Andreas Cornelius, and the physios are doing everything to recover the strong forward. David Khocholava is out due to phy discomfort. 

Head to Head Games

Before last week’s game, the two clubs clashed in the 2009 Europa League. FC Copenhagen was better in both of them, 1-0 at home and 0-3 in Copenhagen.

The first meeting in these playoffs was without goals. A very pale event, with seven yellow cards, disappointed the fans who expected to see fireworks of goals. Copenhagen was better, dictating the tempo, having more of a ball possession and several shots on target, while the Czechs decided to lay back and wait for the chance to score from the counter-attack.

Predictions

Sparta’s approach at home will be much different than in Copenhagen, while on the other hand, we don’t expect to see FC in some inferior position. The Danes aren’t changing their style of play at any cost, so we expect them to play with full force, accepting the aggression coming from the other end of the field. Our pick here will be both teams to score, with the odds for that at -115. These profits are solid, and those who want to be more courageous add over 2.5 goals to it.
