Sporting Lisbon's 3-2 win over Farense on Sunday evening saw them climb back to the top of the Primeira Liga after Benfica toppled to a 5-0 defeat to Porto, leaving Sporting a point clear at the top of the league with a game in hand.

Ruben Amorim's side head into Wednesday's Europa League clash having won seven of their last nine games in all competitions, with one of their two draws coming in the second leg of their play-off round clash with Swiss side Young Boys when they led 3-1 from the first leg.

The Lions have won 18 of their 20 matches they've played at their home stadium in all competitions, including the aforementioned draw with Young Boys. Their only defeat at home this campaign came at the hands of Atalanta.

The Portuguese side finished second in Group D of the Europa League this season, behind Atalanta of all teams, ahead of Sturm Graz and Rakow Czestochowa, and managed to book their place in the last 16 with a 4-2 aggregate win over Young Boys in the play-off round.

Atalanta make the trip to Portugal having lost their last two matches and winless in their last three games following a six match winning run that took them into the top four in the Serie A table and into Champions League qualifying contention.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side latest 2-1 defeat at home to Bologna on Sunday evening, however, leaves the Italian side back down in sixth in the table, and now five points behind the top four.

The Bergamo side make the trip to the Iberian peninsula having won only one of their last eight league games on the road, and will go into Wednesday's tie as underdogs despite having finished above Sporting Lisbon in the group.

Atalanta returned home as winners following their trip to the Jose Alvalade Stadium back in October and drew their match home at home leaving Sporting Lisbon winless against the Italians in their last four meetings going back 60 years.
