Stanley Cup odds update and prediction ahead of Conference Finals

The final four teams have been decided for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The country of Canada’s Stanley Cup drought has officially hit 30 years now with both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers eliminated in the second round. Not only that, but the final four teams are all from southern states.

In fact, the Vegas Golden Knights are the most northern team left in the postseason. What a world.

Let’s take a look at the latest odds to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup as we head into the Conference Final.

Odds to win the Stanley Cup

Stanley Cup prediction

My favorite team, the Maple Leafs, may be eliminated, but my pre-playoff Stanley Cup matchup prediction is still alive. I picked the Carolina Hurricanes over the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup Final and now both teams will be playing in their respective Conference Final.

So, I’m going to stick to that prediction and take the Hurricanes to win it all.

I was concerned about the Hurricanes chances when Teuvo Teräväinen went down in Round 1 against the New York Islanders, but good coaching by Rod Brind’Amour overcame that and now reports are indicating that Teräväinen could return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

The Hurricanes led the NHL in virtually every advanced metric in the regular season and now they’re getting the shooting and goaltending to back it up.

In theory, the Hurricanes have the easiest path to the Final, taking on the No. 8 seed Panthers in the Eastern Conference Final. With that being said, the Panthers took down the Stanley Cup favorite in the Bruins and then followed that up by taking down the new Stanley Cup favorite in the Maple Leafs in Round 2.

Regardless, I’ve said all season the Hurricanes are the best team in the NHL. I’ll stick to my gun and back them to win the Stanley Cup.
