Stars vs. Blackhawks prediction: the player prop to bet for Dallas-Chicago

Chicago has the fewest points in the Western Conference following two straight losses. And we now have to make a Stars vs. Blackhawks prediction.

The Stars are climbing the Western Conference leader board and are just one point behind the first-place Vegas Golden Knights. Great goaltending has been the catalyst behind Dallas’ recent run.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have finished their fire sale after dealing Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers. So, the Hawks are officially in tanking mode.

It’s difficult to handicap the Blackhawks right now, as they might be trading more players. However, I see value in one Chicago center if he plays on Thursday.

So, read on for the odds alongside my pick and prediction for Stars vs. Blackhawks.

Moneyline: Stars (-255) vs. Blackhawks (+205)

Spread: Stars -1.5 (-104) vs. Blackhawks +1.5 (-118)

Total: Over 6 (-120) | Under 6 (-102)

Max Domi over 2.5 shots on goal (-128) at FanDuel Sportsbook

After the Colorado Avalanche traded for Washington’s Lars Eller on Wednesday, I think the market for Max Domi has dried up.

There are rumors that the Blackhawks may extend Domi as the “bridge” player for Chicago’s young core. I’m starting to believe that might happen.

Either way, Domi enters this game as the only threat left on the Blackhawks. He already leads the team in goals (18) and points (49), but now the team’s second and third leading scorers are not playing, as Kane was dealt and Jonathan Toews is on the injured reserve.

Domi will get a huge share of the shots in the future.

And Domi has already seen his usage increase recently. Toews has been out for a month, but Domi has gone over 2.5 shots on goals in all four contests since Kane stopped playing, per Props Cash.

Domi has also cashed over 2.5 shots on goal in five of his past six games, compiling 25 in that span.

The Stars are about league-average in shots allowed this season. However, Domi has upped his usage against Dallas, combining for nine shots on goal in two matchups with the Stars this season.

If all else fails, it is worth mentioning that it’s Domi’s 28th birthday today, as the center was born on March 2, 1995. He’ll be hunting for a goal tonight, especially as the Blackhawks’ only viable offensive option.
