Steven Patemann suspended at Warrnambool

Steven Pateman will spend the next five jumps races on the sidelines after being suspended on the final day of three-day Warrnambool May Carnival.

Pateman was fined $750 for a whip breach on Tuesday and a further $3000 following his win on Saunter Boy in the Galleywood Hurdle on Wednesday.

The jockey was rubbed out after riding Nelson in the Champion Novice Hurdle (3200m) on Thursday and along with the five races suspension, Pateman also incurred at $1000 fine.

Pateman will miss two highweight races and the next three jumps races after commencing his suspension following the completion of Thursday’s Grand Annual Steeplechase.

The champion jockey partnered Stern Idol in Thursday’s feature, but the $1.85 favourite was pulled-up prior to the last fence.
