Troy could win its second Sun Belt Championship in as many years with a victory at home this weekend.

The Trojans (10-2, 7-1 Sun Belt) will need to keep playing at a high level in order to earn that conference title, though. They will host App State (8-4, 6-2) in the Sun Belt title game at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama.

I’m picking App State to win and cover the spread at +5. I also am predicting the game will go Over 52.5 total points.

Troy has been pretty consistent this year. Since the Trojans’ most recent loss – against JMU in mid-September – Troy has won by double digits in all but two games this season.

However, App State has been thriving in recent weeks. The Mountaineers have also been winning decisively. Their lone single-possession game during their current five-game winning streak was an overtime victory at previously unbeaten JMU.

App State has also scored 30 or more points in four of its last five contests, so I think the Mountaineers will find a way to put up points against Troy, even if the Trojans have the best scoring defense (16.7 points per game allowed) in the Sun Belt.

I believe App State will make this become a high-scoring game. If that happens, I think the Mountaineers will have the advantage.
