Suns vs. Nets prop bets Jan. 31: Bet on Durant to go off in his return to Brooklyn

Kevin Durant returns to Brooklyn for the first time since being traded to the Phoenix Suns last season.

The pregame narrative: Durant's career with the Nets was marked by disappointment and ultimately resulted in him requesting a trade. It shouldn't be KD who views tonight's matchup as a "revenge game" but I'm expecting him to fill the basket nonetheless.

Suns vs. Nets prop bets

Best Bet: Durant over 25.5 points (-110)

Brooklyn's attempt to build a super team failed miserably.

Acquiring Durant, alongside James Harden and Kyrie Irving seemed like a surefire way to contend for a championship. But that trio played just 16 games together and won only one playoff series.

Of all the players to blame for the shortcomings, KD is last on the list. He averaged 29.0 points in 129 games with Brooklyn and didn't have a season where he shot under 50.0% from the field.

That's the type of production I'm expecting tonight.

Durant has gone under this total in four straight games with the Suns but that's mainly due to a lack of volume. He attempted an average of 13.0 field goals in that span — well below his 19.1 season average —— and still shot 53.8% from the field.

And that's only because his teammate, Devin Booker, has been on an all-time heater, putting up 43.5 PPG over the past four. He did cool off a bit in his most recent outing, though, scoring 22 points on a poor 9-of-23 shooting performance.

Durant is still averaging 28.3 PPG on the season. Expect him to take charge tonight against his old team.

Key stat: Durant has cleared this total in 29 of 40 games this season (72.5%).

Quick pick

Thomas over 2.5 threes (+143): Cam Thomas is one of the streakiest players in the NBA. Luckily for us, he's red-hot at the moment.

Brooklyn's shooting guard is averaging 31 PPG in his past two outings and has shot a combined 7-for-11 from deep in that span, clearing this line in both games.

Phoenix is a middle-of-the-road team at defending from beyond the arc, ranking 17th in opponent 3-pointers attempted (35.3) and opponent 3-point percentage (37.0%).

Thomas hit four threes in his lone matchup with the Suns this season.
