T20 World Cup 2022: Schedule, groups, how to watch on TV and latest odds

The men's T20 World Cup returns next month. Australia won the previous edition of the tournament. The tournament starts on October 16 and runs for nearly a month with the final scheduled for November 13. Every match will be shown live on Sky Sports. Alex Hales is expected to open the batting for England Down Under. He was the top run scorer in the 2020/21 Big Bash and played a key role in Trent Rockets' win.

The first stage of the T20 World Cup involves eight teams that had to go through a qualification phase. The semi-finals take place on November 9 and 10, with the final at the MCG on Nov 13. England's group-stage fixtures are as follows: Namibia, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe and West Indies in Group A, Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand in the Super 12 stage, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, South Africa in Super 2.

Ben Stokes will bat at No4 in the England side for the World Cup. Harry Brook will stay at five. England play a three-match series against Australia starting in Perth on Sunday. They also play two warm-up matches against Pakistan. Captain Jos Buttler will be back in Australia after missing the Pakistan series. The World cup starts on October 22. Matthew Mott's team haven't fared well under him. He hopes Mark Wood and Liam Livingstone will recover in time for that game. The team also has a warm up against Afghanistan. There are four matches before the first World Cups game, starting with the series in which England take on Australia.
