The Curragh betting tips

1.55: Noche Magica 7/4

The Marble Hill Stakes is a Group 3 contest for two-year-olds.

Noche Magica is by Night Of Thunder who beat Kingman in the 2000 Guineas in 2014.

But crucially, this sire won on his two starts over 6f in commanding fashion and his progeny in the form of this brown colt can replicate that with this competitive Group 3.

His first run was over 5f on soft to heavy ground and it was an easy win suggesting any step up in trip will definitely suit.

Run was impressive too considering he beat Aidan O'Brien's colt Alabama, the strong 6/4 favourite.

2.30: Garrus 15/8 & Ano Syra 14/1 each-way

Ano Syra will likely be a great price each-way and even the one to beat if improving the form she showed against Go Bears Go and Tees Spirit last season.

Garrus on the other hand is the top-rated horse in the field off a mark of 113 and under Ryan Moore boosts his chances.

Has had some great form before and ought to improve even further after winning the Abernant Stakes in April.

Hasn't been seen in Ireland for quite some time but on his best form should win nicely - especially considering his Group 1 previous in the likes of the Arc Prix Maurice de Gheest and Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

3.40: Cairo 14/1

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has 11 victories in this race, but the last was six years ago with the very successful Churchill.

The champion trainer was well beaten in the British Guineas and France this season too.

In fact, Paddington is the shortest price for the trainer behind Royal Scotsman and Hi Royal.

Royal Scotsman is an obvious choice in the absence of Chaldean, a horse he's finished just behind twice, in the 2000 Guineas and by a neck in the Dewhurst back in October.

But potential for a more prolific one miler comes in the form of O'Brien's 14/1 colt Cairo.

Things didn't go well in the UAE Derby and some horses just don't get on overseas and that was also over an extended 1m1f.

Back to a mile now and already with a win on good ground over this course and distance, 14/1 seems a great price for what is still a very open Irish 2000 Guineas.

Most of the field have all been out of the winners' enclosure a few times but this horse has always been consistently up at the finish in Ireland and could be one to watch in the market.

Haydock betting tips

2.25: Covey 11/4

Covey's a huge price considering this promising three-year-old in the hands of Frankie Dettori has won on his second and third run.

On debut this Frankel colt came a neck second to odds-on Zoology who has been placed in seventh position in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes behind the winner Blackbeard.

After finishing ahead of Covey he also went on to place behind Isaac Shelby in a Group 3 contest.

But this horse has gone on to win emphatically since and may well be open to more improvement upped to a mile.

3.00: Little Big Bear 13/8 (NAP)

This price is likely to go quickly on the day and anything around evens is ideal.

That's largely due to the colt running 24 lengths behind Chaldean at Newmarket on seasonal debut.

But that can be excused due to the vet revealing he'd finished lame on his right hind.

That explains the poor run and if he's on form he should win this well, especially on the return to a preferred 6f.

He beat Persian Force by seven lengths in August and 13/8 is potentially overpriced even for this level.
