Taranaki v Hawke's Bay at New Plymouth's Yarrow Stadium

Kia ora, good afternoon and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the National Provincial Championship final between Taranaki and Hawke's Bay at New Plymouth's Yarrow Stadium.

The first all-North Island final since 2007 sees second play fifth for the spoils.

Taranaki reached this stage by turning back the challenge of nine-time champions Canterbury, while the Magpies toppled defending champions Wellington for the second time in as many weeks, after lifting the Ranfurly Shield in their previous visit to the capital.

The Bay tempted the rugby gods by destroying the sacred Log O' Wood during their celebrations and hope to atone for their sins by capturing their first national championship crown.

Rest assured, they're unlikely to take the actual trophy home with them this time, but they could perhaps hold it for a team photo.
