The Cordish Companies opens Sports & Social Bethesda betting venue

The Cordish Companies’ Sports & Social Bethesda celebrated the opening of a new FanDuel in-person sports betting experience on Sept. 7, the first day of the NFL season.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony featured ceremonial commentary from FanDuel’s Jeff Lowich, vice president of retail operations; and The Cordish Companies’ Rob Norton, president of Cordish Gaming Group, as well as former Washington Redskins football players Santana Moss and Dexter Manley, who placed the honorary first bet. The event was emceed by Brian Mitchell, another former Redskins player.

Mike Eaton, managing director of gaming for the Maryland Lottery presented the official sports wagering license to Carroll Hynson Jr., President of Whitman Gaming, Inc. at the event to officially open in-person sports betting at the venue.

In partnership with FanDuel and Whitman Gaming Inc., Sports & Social Bethesda offers guests numerous ways to make in-person bets with self-serve kiosks and a retail window next to the large media wall showing all major sporting events.

Throughout the night, guests enjoyed the chance to win giveaway prizes including gift cards, Washington gameday tickets, premier earbuds, free nights at Live Hotel and Casino Maryland and more.

Sports & Social Bethesda’s nearly 8,000-square-foot space features a variety of live music and special events throughout the week, including one of the best sports watching experiences in the region with its unparalleled game-day Sports Watch activations. Outfitted with state-of-the-art AV technology throughout the venue, the space boasts an impressive 18-foot LED display at its centerpiece that allows guests to enjoy multiple games and sporting events at once.
