The World Cup is over. What soccer should I watch now?
The 2022 World Cup has come to an end. The countdown begins for World Cups 2026, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Professional soccer happens worldwide all throughout the year.
Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson are starters for Leeds United. Leeds has a lot of American connections, including the coach Jesse Marsch and the minority owners, the York family. Christian Pulisic plays for Chelsea and Gio Reyna for Borussia Dortmund. Weston McKennie plays in Serie A for Juventus. Nashville SC had the most American players on the World Cup roster.
The World Cup is over. South American football is very exciting. Next year, watch the Copa Libertadores. Messi plays for Paris Saint-Germain. He is a legend in South America. There are rumors that he might come to the U.S. to play for David Beckham's MLS team.
The World Cup is over. Kylian Mbappé scored more goals in the run of play than any other player in this year's World cup. PSG is a star-studded, world-class team with players from other countries' national squads. Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernández play together with AC Milan.
The World Cup is over. I loved watching the non-European, non South American underdogs. The best leagues in the world are mostly in Europe. Most of the best players go there to play. Some of them play in Premier League, others in La Liga and in international leagues. MLS sent nearly 40 players to the World Cups. There are 28 teams across the U.S. and Canada. LAFC, Inter Miami, Charlotte FC, Portland Timbers, Chelsea, and Atlanta United are some of those teams.
The World Cup is over. Women's soccer is less of a waste of time than men's. The U.S. has a great women's league called the NWSL. There are currently a dozen teams and the league is expected to add two more teams for the 2024 season. The next season begins March 25.
