Theresa May hails Cricket World Cup heroes ‘representing modern Britain’
Theresa May met the England cricket team after their World Cup win. She praised their ability and character. The team won the tournament with a dramatic victory over New Zealand. They were greeted by cheers and car horns on their way to Downing Street. They met with the PM and were presented with their trophy. Adil Rashid propused the trophy and urged them to lift it higher. He had assured team-mates that Allah was on the side of them. It was the first time the World cup was won by the men's team. In 2005 the 2005 Ashes team were also met at Number 10 by Tony Blair and his family.
