This is the data-backed trend betters are jumping on

My name is Ben Fawkes and welcome back to the seventh week of my sports betting mailbag. I’ve been in the sports betting industry since 2010, and have learned quite a lot over the last decade.

In our previous mailbags we’ve covered Dan Campbell’s COY odds, how to make some money betting against the Pistons, and some insights into NFL betting trends. This week we turn our attention to the Lions and their recent struggles. How can they clean it up in the homestretch toward the playoffs?

If you have a question, feel free to DM me at @BFawkes22 on X. Hope to hear from you soon! of

It’s been a better season for the most-bet teams than it usually is, Jacob. I’d be careful not to blindly bet against the public in every game, but it is an interesting data point to use as part of an overall handicap of a game.

This week, the Bengals (78% of bets at DraftKings Sportsbooks, -3 vs. Vikings), Falcons (85%, -3 at Panthers) and Eagles (79%, -4 at Seahawks) are three that stand out to me. The public is likely betting them for different reasons. For the Eagles, it’s a revenge factor and the public doesn’t think the Seahawks are good, especially if Drew Lock is starting.

For the Bengals, Jake Browning has looked good and the Vikings just put up 3 points. And the Panthers are simply the worst team in the NFL, so only laying 3 points seems too good to be true. Good luck!
