Three Big 12 Prop Bets to Watch in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, Kansas vs. UNLV

There are two things in life that everyone loves, watching college football and making money. In today’s story, I’m going to try to help you accomplish both.

As the Kansas Jayhawks get set to take on the UNLV Rebels in the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl, we here at Heartland College Sports want to provide you with three prop bets to keep your eyes on as well as a superstar staff parlay.

While the Kansas Jayhawks did lose offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki to the Penn State Nittany Lions in November, I find it hard to believe that Leipold and company will completely overhaul the offense in one month.

Jason Bean is at his best when he’s on the run, and with the backfield monster of Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. behind him, I believe that Bean will have some lanes to run in outside of the pocket.

UNLV has done a decent job of defending the run this year as the team is giving up 163.3 yards per game on the ground. Kansas on the other hand is averaging 211.3 yards per game this year with their stellar rushing attack, and for those reasons, Jason Bean will be the engine for Kansas’ offense in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

While the previous prop bet didn’t need much statistical backing to validate the pick, Lawrence Arnold’s over being listed at 57.5 deserves some logic.

UNLV is currently second to last in the Mountain West with total yards of passing offense surrendered to opposing players. While the most lethal part of KU’s offense is related to their dynamic rushing attack, someone will have to be a deep threat for the Jayhawks, and this season it’s been Arnold.

Arnold finished off the regular season with 38 grabs for 650 yards and three scores, but the key thing for this prop bet is Arnold’s impressive 17.1 yards per catch. Kansas will open things up down the field for play action passes and I expect Arnold to be the guy the Jayhawks turn to in order to stretch the field.

The Achilles heel of the Kansas Jayhawks over the past decade has been their inability to get stops. While things did improve in 2023 thanks to players like Austin Booker, Gage Keys, and Rich Miller, the team still finished in the middle of the Big 12 Conference at defending the run.

Unfortunately for Kansas, the team will be without their star defensive lineman Austin Booker for the bowl game as head coach Lance Leipold confirmed on Sunday that Booker will be opting out of the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

While I do believe Kansas will come out on top in the matchup, it goes without saying in my eyes that UNLV running back Vincent Davis Jr. will find the end zone at least once.

  • Jason Bean Rushing Yards 23.5+
  • Kansas Total Points 37.5+
  • UNLV Total Points 23.5+
  • Vincent Davis Jr. Rushing Yards 54.5+

The bets outlined in the HCS Superstar Staff Parlay all coincide with Lance Leipold’s squad taking care of business against UNLV in the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl. While nothing is ever set in stone in the world of sports betting, I feel pretty good about each bet outlined in this article. Have fun, bet smart, enjoy the game, and let’s go make some money!
