Thursday Night Football preview: Can the Cowboys avoid a trap game

It’s Thursday and you know what that means — it’s time for another Thursday Night Football preview with Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr.!

The Seahawks and Cowboys are teams going in opposite directions, with Dallas having won three in a row while Seattle has lost three of their last four games. The fact that the Cowboys are a perfect 5-0 does not bode well for the Seahawks, either. Can the Cowboys take care of business before they enter a difficult stretch including games against the Eagles, Bills, Dolphins and Lions?

One thing GoJo points out is the danger of the look ahead. But, he thinks this Cowboys team is in such a good rhythm offensively and can we have some Defensive Player of the Year conversations around DaRon Bland? Is his record-tying Thanksgiving performance when it comes to pick-6s enough to vault him into the DPOY race? Senior says it should as the turnovers are one thing, but turning them into points on your own is something else. His DPOY odds currently are fourth-best on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Senior notes that Seattle is currently in the playoffs, but notes that Kenneth Walker III is doubtful. Somewhat miraculously, we’ve hit Weel 13 and the Cowboys have NO notable injuries heading into this game. Everybody was practicing, which Senior says is amazing at this point in the season. He says Dallas is playing really well right now, while Seattle is slipping a bit and is looking to get the offense back on track as they fight for a playoff spot.

GoJo notes that right now Tyron Smith and the Cowboys' offensive line looks good and has been playing at a high level and he thinks that unit is going to make it hard for the Seattle defensive front to get pressure on Dak Prescott.

Senior thinks most people believe the Cowboys should take care of business vs. the Seahawks before a 10-day layoff heading into their showdown with the Eagles. It’s not unfathomable to think the Eagles could fall in the interim to the 49ers, and if that happens Senior points out there will be only one game separating the Eagles and Cowboys. If the Cowboys can then beat the Eagles they’ll be even in the loss column and the teams will have split the season series. Things all of a sudden could get very interesting.

Meanwhile, speaking of the Cowboys, Emmitt Smith joined the show to discuss Jimmy Johnson finally joining the Cowboys Ring of Honor, the state of the current Dallas squad and more.
