Tigers vs. Twins: Odds, picks and predictions 8/15/23

Your Detroit Tigers begin a two-game series with the first place Minnesota Twins tonight. These will be the final two games between these teams in the regular season, which seems odd considering their proximity and rivalry.

Whether you have a sportsbook account or are new to wagering online, this MLB sportsbook guide can assist you with your baseball odds and offers. Despite winning three of four from the Twins last week, oddsmakers at Caesars MI have the Tigers as underdogs against the Twins. The Tigers are 7-4 against the first-place Twins this season, but you can still get good odds if you think the Motor City team can beat Minnesota on Tuesday. A winning $100 wager on Detroit with Caesars would win you $162.

Alex Faedo (2-4, 5.80 ERA, 35 K in 40.1 IP) vs Bailey Ober (6-6, 3.40 ERA, 107 K in 108.2 IP)

Last Wednesday, Bailey Ober faced Detroit and struggled, allowing 12 baserunners and five runs in five innings. Detroit batters are hitting .318 with a .500 slugging percentage all-time off Ober. Most alarmingly, it’s been good contact: Tigers hitters have 14 extra-base hits in 30 innings off Ober.

To be sharp, Faedo must mix his pitches and stay ahead of batters. His stuff isn’t good enough to blow away MLB hitters, which is why he can be prone to the home run ball when he falls behind in the count. He’s allowed three runs or less in each of his last two starts, but is still allowing too many base runners.

Zach McKinstry vs. Bailey Ober is 3-for-6 off Ober lifetime… Following a day off, expect Miguel Cabrera to be in the lineup. The Detroit legend has two hits off Ober this season, and has at least one hit in 11 of his last 14 games. It seems like Miggy is making a final push for base hits as he enters the last weeks of his career… The only Minnesota batter with an OPS over .500 against Faedo is Jorge Polanco…
