Shishkin and Energumene were outstanding recruits to the two-mile chasing scene for Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins. Shishk won the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton and Clarence House Chase. Enerumne won Champion Chase in Punchestown. Greaneteen took advantage of Shiskin's delayed return to win Tingle Creek Chase and Celebration Chase, while Nube Negra was not included in the Queen Mother Champion Chase field. Mullins had another strong crop of novice chasers. Galopin des Champs (c175p) is one of them. Bob Olinger won the Turners Novices' Chase at Cheltenham. Ferny Hollow ( c166+) and Gentleman de Mee (C164p), were other top novices. L’Homme Presse (ca162p). won his first five chases. Edwardstone (a161p): the top two-mile novice in Britain. He won at Sandown and the Arkle at the Cheltonham, but lost at Punchestown.
