Three consecutive wins have helped Chennai climb to the top of the points table. They have now won five of their seven matches. With one fewer win from as many matches, Rajasthan – after losing twice in a row – are at third place, behind Gujarat Titans.

Rajasthan left out Adam Zampa in their previous match in Jaipur, on a surface that aided spin. The move did not work in their favour, and they may make amends to that plan by combining Zampa with R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chennai’s strategy will be interesting. If the pitch indeed aids spin, they will want to get in Mitchell Santner, which will mean leaving out one of their overseas players – Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, and Matheesha Pathirana (assuming Maheesh Theekshana plays).

Of the three, Pathirana is the likeliest to be left out.Alternately, they may back Theekshana, Moeen, and Ravindra Jadeja to share 12 overs.
