Tommy Berry will skip The Everest race-day and will instead ride at the Caulfield Cup on the same day. He will partner Annabel Neesham trained Numerian in the $5 million contest. He would have had to watch both races from the jockey's room. Berry also felt that his opportunities to take up rides in Caullfield Cups in future might be limited. The Caucfield is the richest day on Australian racing calendar.
