Trainer Tim Yakteen brings 2 top horses to 1st Kentucky Derby in charge

Tim Yakteen is in charge of Messier and Taiba at the Kentucky Derby. Messer is the early third choice in the race. Taibai is a 12-1 shot. Yakteer worked as an apprentice under Bob Baffert earlier in his career. Bafert is suspended and banned from racing for two years. Yakite has more than 250 career victories and purse earnings exceeding $12 million. He was raised in Germany and moved to the U.S. at age 18. His Lebanese father was stationed with the Army. Mike Smith will ride Taiban in Saturday's race at Churchill Downs.
