William Haggas is chasing the Cambridgeshire. He has won the big handicaps in the past but has not won it yet. Mukhadram and Protagonist are the favourites. Protagonists has been backed in from double-figure odds a week ago. Tom Marquand will ride him. The race starts at 1.30 pm. It is a sprint. There is no clear favourite. Mujtaba has topped the betting since scoring impressively in a first-time tongue-tie at the St Leger meeting.
Savvy Victory is a one-time Derby contender. He won the Cambridgeshire at Goodwood. Trainer Sean Woods believes he has the right profile and speed to win the race. He is 2lb well in under a 4lb penalty. The last two Cambshire winners went on to score in Group company.
The weather should be good for the Cambridgeshire. The horses are Perotto, Kitsune Power, Totally Charming, Arqoob, Caradoc, Dual Identity, and William Knight are the trainers. They are hoping for rain. They hope for a good race. If the ground is good, they will run well. It should not be too wet. There will be a strong pace. This is a mile and a half race, run at 9 furlongs.
