Jack Della Maddalena vs Randy Brown betting preview

Della Maddalena is working his way towards a significant fight at welterweight, and Brown might be the last hurdle to clear before he gets one. The all-action Australian is going to have to contend with the unique physical advantages and experience Brown possesses, and while he’s a big favorite, he needs to bring his A-game to win here.

With his last three fights ending in the first round, it’ll be telling if Della Maddalena can blast out Brown, a tough fighter in his own right. Pete Rodriguez, Ramazan Emeev, and Danny Roberts drowned beneath his pressure and heavy hands. What he has going for him is that he throws with bad intentions, he’s an excellent finisher, and he's gaining a following as a result of his devastating performances.

There is a lot to like about the Aussie, and he could be a staple in major events if he keeps winning. He lands an incredible 8.45 significant strikes per minute at 50% accuracy and ensures he keeps the fight standing as he stuffs 71% of takedown attempts. Of his wins, he has 11 knockouts and one submission out of 13 total wins with an average fight time of 5:59 minutes.

Brown is not getting the benefit of the doubt from bettors, but he is a big test for the upstart banger. The Jamaican has a 78-inch reach and stands at 6-foot-3 against his opponent’s 73-inch reach and 5-foot-11 height. He was in the octagon last October beating Francisco Trinaldo, making it his fourth in a row since a 2020 stoppage loss to Vicente Luque.

“Rudeboy” is a disciplined striker who uses his physical gifts well. He lands 4.38 significant strikes per minute at 48% accuracy, and while he doesn’t work on the ground, he lands 0.69 takedowns per 15 minutes at 40% accuracy and has five submission wins. 11 of his 16 wins have come inside the distance, though his last three fights have been decisions.

Della Maddalena cutting Brown down would be impressive, but he’s going to have a long night if he can’t get inside Brown’s range. Brown needs to avoid the heavy shots, especially as he’s struggled to get himself off the canvas when he’s been taken or knocked down.

Jack Della Maddalena vs Randy Brown tale of the tape

Jack Della Maddalena vs Randy Brown UFC prediction and best bet

Fight prediction: Della Maddalena ML

Paramount to Brown pulling this off is keeping his opponent at bay, trying to run out the clock. Della Maddalena is a rare type of swarmer who hits very hard and doesn’t sacrifice power for his output, and that is troublesome for Brown.

There have been times in Brown’s fights where he gives up his range and height, often leading to near calamity. That won’t cut the mustard here, especially if he isn’t winning a range war and running his younger foe into a stiff jab or counter-shots. Once Della Maddalena gets inside his range, it could be all she wrote.

Because he doesn’t need to change his core game plan, expect the Aussie to win this one.

Prediction: Della Maddalena moneyline (-325 at DraftKings)

Fight best bet: Della Maddalena by KO/TKO/DQ in Round 2

There will be a moment early on where Brown looks like he’s keeping Della Maddalena at bay, and it will lure him into a false sense of security.

Once that happens, the Australian will do what he does best and explode on him with a volley of shots. All three of Brown’s losses in the UFC have been finished in the second round and we feel he’ll get stopped here.

The best bet for this fight is Della Maddelena opening Brown up in the first, then dropping him dead in the second round for a +500 haul.

Pick: Della Maddalena by KO/TKO/DQ in Round 2 (+500 at DraftKings)
