UFC Fighter Jeff Molina Comes Out as Bisexual Amidst Leaked Video Controversy

In a historic moment, UFC bantamweight Jeff Molina announced on his Twitter account that he is bisexual. This marks the first time a male UFC fighter has disclosed that he is not heterosexual. Molina joins a growing list of women, both inside and outside of the UFC, who have openly identified as queer professional mixed martial artists.

Molina’s announcement, however, came after a private and intimate video of him was stolen and leaked online, forcing him to make his announcement earlier than planned. In his Twitter post, Molina expressed disappointment that the chance to announce his own terms was taken away from him.

The UFC fighter revealed that he had previously dated women but had suppressed feelings of attraction towards men. He expressed concerns about how his teammates, peers, and fans would react to his announcement, especially in a sport where homophobic attitudes have been prevalent. Molina emphasized that his identity as a fighter should be based on his skills, not his sexual orientation.

Molina had made waves in the past when he was the only male fighter to wear a UFC fight kit that included rainbow colours in support of Pride. Unfortunately, he received backlash from MMA fans for his choice, highlighting the continued need for open-mindedness and acceptance in the sport.

Molina’s status as an active UFC fighter is currently uncertain due to his recent suspension by the UFC and Nevada Athletic Commission, as part of an investigation into his coach, James Krause, and allegations of betting activity.
