U.S. Open Winner Carlos Alcaraz to Miss Australian Open With Injury

Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 1, has to withdraw from the Australian Open with a leg injury. Alaraz won his first Grand Slam singles title at the U.S. Open in September. He has not played since then, but he took part in an exhibition in Abu Dhabi last month. The Australian open starts on January 16. Novak Djokovic was deported from Australia on the eve of the tournament last year. He is playing in the lead-in tournament in Adelaide this week. It is the second year in a row that he has been allowed to play in this tournament.
