USMNT Team News vs Japan: Steffen, Robinson, Weah

The USMNT take on Japan at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf on Friday. It's the first of two friendlies the USNT will play during this FIFA international window. The most recent friendly was played in 2006. This is the third meeting between the two nations. USA won the most previous game 3-2 in the 2006 and Japan won 3,1 in 1993.

Gregg Berhalter named a 26-man squad for this international break. There are a few names missing from the squad that might be a part of the starting XI when the World Cup campaign begins versus Wales.

Zack Steffen has not played for Middlesbrough since August 20th because of a knee injury. He moved to The Boro on loan from Manchester City to boost his chances of being the first choice goalkeeper for the USA at the World Cup.

Antonee Robinson injured his ankle in Fulham's Premier League defeat to Tottenham. He has been left out of the USMNT squad for their final set of friendlies.

Timothy Weah is injured and can't take part in the squad. Yunus Musah, Chris Richards and Cameron Carter-Vickers were late withdrawals from the selected squad and were replaced. Johnny Cardoso, Mark McKenzie and Erik Palmer-Brown are the replacements.
