Most of the more expensive seating is already sold out. The 88th Virginia Gold Cups takes place on Saturday at the Great Meadow fields in The Plains, Va. Gates open at 10 a.m. Entertainment starts at 11:15 a., the opening ceremonies at 12:30 and the betting stations open immediately after. First of seven races starts around 1: 15 p. m. The International Gold Carts are the only steeplechase races in the state to offer betting.
