1. Paris Saint-Germain
L/5 Form – Joint 6th [1.80 PPG], L/5 xPTS – 10th [7.16 xPTS], L/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [8.2], Last Week’s Rank – [N/A]
While form and data figures suggest PSG have been a long way from the best team in the league across recent games, that win against Lens last time out proved their championship credentials and showed why they’re still the class of the French league overall.
2. Lens
L/5 Form – 1st [2.40 PPG], L/5 xPTS – 5th [8.60 xPTS], L/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [11.0], Last Week’s Rank – [N/A]
If it wasn’t for PSG’s victory over Lens last weekend, ‘The Blood and Gold’ would arguably be top of this list as they’ve been superb across recent games.
Even with that loss, Lens had the greater offensive xG in that game over PSG but were simply undone by the brilliance of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
3. Lille

Not facing the toughest schedule has arguably kept Lille out of an even higher spot on this list, but this is a team playing extremely well right now with by far the highest xPTS out of any team in the league across their last five starts.
However, a shock loss against bottom of the table Angers two weeks ago took some of the shine off in a game they dominated.
4. Monaco

Three wins from their last four show Monaco are still hunting for that automatic Champions League spot. However, they’ll need to clean up a home record that has seen them drop two of their last four games at the Stade Louis II to midtable Nice and Reims respectively.
5. Marseille
L/5 Form – Tied 6th [1.80 PPG], L/5 xPTS – 8th [8.28 xPTS], L/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [13.2], Last Week’s Rank – [N/A]

16. Nice

Despite sitting 9th in the table overall, we have to include Nice in the bottom bracket of these rankings as they’ve fell off a cliff performance wise across recent weeks. A current six game winless run has been accompanied by a 0% clean sheet percentage across their last five games as well. Losing to 16th placed Brest last weekend proves just how much this team is struggling right now.
17. Nantes

In a huge relegation battle on Sunday against 14th placed Auxerre, Nantes came up short, losing 2-1 on the road to the club from Burgundy.
That doesn’t leave much room for error over the remaining few weeks for Nantes as they sit just two points clear of the relegation zone.
18. Angers

Cadiz secured an excellent win against 5th placed Betis last week, but bar that highlight, the Andalusian club have been quite poor across recent games, sitting with the 3rd lowest xPTS across their last five starts, and arguably should have lost to 17th placed Almeria last month also.
19. Troyes

A 15 game winless run for Troyes has left them completely stranded in the relegation zone as they’ve failed to win a game across any competition since the start of January.
20. AC Ajaccio

Sitting bottom of the table in both recent form and expected points data across their last few games, AC Ajaccio look like a team in freefall right now with six straight losses.
