Wake Forest's Hartman Named 2022 Brian Piccolo Award Recipient
Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman has been named the recipient of the 2022 Brian Piccolo Award. Piccolo was the ACC Athlete of The Year in 1965 and played for the Chicago Bears before his career was cut short due to cancer. Hart was diagnosed with a rare blood clot in the subclavian vein in August. He underwent a procedure to remove the clot and surgery to eliminate the pressure on the affected vein. After a month of rehabilitation, Hart returned to the practice field. He ranked second in ACC with 3,421 passing yards in 11 games and tied for lead in touchdown passes with 35.
