Washington Mystics vs Dallas Wings Prediction, Odds & Best Bet

The Dallas Wings (13-10) host the Washington Mystics (12-11) coming off a loss that snapped a 5-game winning streak. The Wings have been playing really good ball, standing 2nd in the Western Conference, while the Mystics stand 3rd in the Eastern Conference, but have been struggling.

These 2 teams have met twice so far this year, splitting the games 1-1. The most recent game was on July 2nd where the Wings won by 17 points. The Mystics sneaked out a 1-point win in the first matchup back on June 2nd.

In both games, the Mystics were at full strength, and we have a different situation for this game. For the 5th straight game, the Mystics will be missing 3 key players of their team. Elena Delle Donne, Ariel Atkins and Shakira Austion will all be sidelined again.

This has been a huge blow to the Mystics, but they have still managed to contend. They are 2-3 in the 5 games but are missing Delle Donne’s 18.2 points per game and 6 rebounds per game. Atkins is averaging 12.5 points per game and Austin is averaging 11.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game as well that add to the absence.

Can the Wings get back on track to their winning ways?

In their last 10 games, the Wings are 7-3 and are 8-3 at home so far this season. They had a little bit of a rough start to the season but are 6-2 so far in the month of July.

Led by star guard Arike Ogunbowale, forwards Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally. All 3 have started every game this season. Ogunbowale is averaging 22 points per game while Howard and Sabally are both averaging 17 points per game and 9 rebounds per game. Teaira McCown has done her part with 11.5 points per game and 9 rebounds per game as well.

As you can see from their stat lines, the Wings are a high-powered, offensive team that crashes the boards. They rank 3rd in the league in points per game and 1st in rebounds per game.

They look to continue the momentum they had going before their winning streak was snapped. Back in front of the home crowd on a Friday night is a good way to start.

Washington Mystics vs Dallas Wings Predictions and Picks

Pick: Wings -7.5 (-114)

I’ve watched the Mystics over this 5-game injury span, and they still manage to find ways to contend. They have pulled out 2 wins and their largest lost was to the Liberty by 9 points last Friday.

Mystics will be coming off 1 day rest and traveling. This can also play a factor when you’re already shorthanded. Not only are the Wings at full strength, but they are coming off 2 days rest and it’s a home game.

I really think this could get ugly. This fully stacked Wings team is going to be a lot for the banged-up Mystics to handle. I’d expect to see Dallas dominate this game all around.

Especially look for the Wings to crash the boards like crazy. The Mystics rank bottom 2nd in the league for rebounding and are even worse missing their 3 top rebounders.

The Wings also rank 4th in APG to go along with their scoring and rebounding. Look for them to move the ball around well and find players like Ogunbowale and Howard open.

Player Prop: Arike Ogunbowale O22.5 Points (-113)

Arike is playing amazing basketball right now. She is coming off 3 straight games of 25 points while averaging 37 minutes per game.

She is averaging 22.9 points per game in her last 7 games, and she is shooting 50% from the field in the past 3 games.

The Wings are going to come out looking for a win and it will all start with her. This team is so strong offensively that it will be hard for the Mystics to keep up.

I expect Arike to shoot the ball plenty. She has had 20 field goal attempts in each of the last 3 games and I don’t see that changing for this game.

Player Prop: Satou Sabally O9.5 Rebounds (-113)

Satou has been dominating the boards this season, averaging 9 per game. She also has had great showings in the first two games this season.

She had 14 rebounds in the first game and 15 rebounds in the second and she’s hit the line in her last 2 games with 13 and 11. She has been a key part of this offense and will have the advantage on the boards with all the players out on the Mystics.

The Stars rank 1st in the league for offense rebounds as well, putting around 12 boards per game. The number seems high, but I think we see her get to this number comfortably.
