Washington State plays Fresno State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl. It's just the second LA bowl game since the inaugural version was canceled in 2020. The team from the Mountain West had a rocky season. Fresno has won three straight bowl games including two of them under Jeff Tedford. It’s just a bowl for the first weekend. For the Pac-12, a win would boost the perception of the school. Last year Utah State surprised Oregon State 24-13 in one of one the biggest curveball wins of this season's bowl season, and it's the same team that won the previous one.

Washington State is not a high-flying offensive team. The team's ground game has been good recently. Fresno State has only allowed one team to under 87 yards on the ground.
