Wayne Rooney addresses Derby future after Rams relegated to League One

Derby County were relegated from the Championship on Easter Monday. Wayne Rooney is proud of his players. The club was docked 21 points this season. There is hope that a pending takeover will bring a new era to the club. Chris Kirchner is in the process of completing the deal. Paul Merson believes the takeover is necessary if Derby are to be competitive next season and develop the squad. He also criticizes former owner Mel Morris. Chris Kircher withdrew a bid last year. His camp have made encouraging noises. It is hoped a deal can be done in time for Derby to put together a competitive squad for next year's season, if it happens.
