FIU Panthers and Bryant Bulldogs will play each other in the first college football game of the season on Thursday. Bryant is new members of Big South Conference. Zevi Eckhaus is back at quarterback for Bryant. FIU is looking to improve after a disastrous 1-11 record in 2021. Gunnar Holmberg transfers from Duke to compete for the starting quarterback position. Tyrese Chambers returns for FIu after leading the Panthers with 1,074 receiving yards and 9 scores last season. FI U will need to develop some depth at the secondary. They lost a lot of depth in that position coming into 2022.
