Week 5 Football AP Poll: Horns Down Bad
The Texas Longhorns and Miami Hurricanes have lost two games in the first four weeks of the season. They have been knocked off the Top 25 and replaced by Minnesota, Florida State and Kansas State.
Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State are the best team. Michigan got pushed by Maryland, Clemson needed 2OT to beat Wake Forest, USC barely escaped Oregon State, etc. North Carolina receiving any votes is absurd.
#26 Kansas is undefeated with two P5 wins, including one on the road. 19 voters omitted 4-0 KU from their ballots this week. Kansas will look to improve to 5-1 by beating Iow State this weekend.
David Briggs is a Spotlight Voter. He ranks Tulane ahead of Kansas State and Oklahoma at #25. The Green Wave's win over KSU knocked off OU.
TCU is ranked #25 in the AP Poll. The Coaches Poll has TCU with 20 points, 54 behind # 25 Syracuse. Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma, BYU, Kansas State and Texas Tech are the other teams receiving votes. TCU's next game is against Oklahoma. Cincinnati is not ranked. Texas has a good record, with wins over Houston and Texas. It's possible that the Red Raiders will get more votes in future polls.
#9 Oklahoma State won, while some of the other teams took conference losses. Baylor won on the road, but still trails Oklahoma. BYU won against Wyoming. Kansas State beat Texas Tech, and is now on top of their conference. Cincinnati is still in the rankings, despite dismantling Indiana. TCU is ranked #25 on Brett McMurphy's ballot.
