Weekly Rulings: Mar. 1 -7
The TDN publishes a roundup of official rulings from the primary tracks within the four major racing jurisdictions of California, New York, Florida and Kentucky every week.
Edwin Maldonado, Victor Espinoza, Ricardo Ramirez and Brice Blanc are suspended for three days. Jamie Spencer is fined $500 for excessive use of the whip. The term of suspension does not prohibit participation in designated races. The penalties are based on the California Horse Racing Board rules. It is a violation of California Riding Rules–Careless Riding. They are also based upon the rules of designated racing. For example, the term is for 3 days for the third race at Santa Anita Park on March 5, 2022.
James Baker, trainer of Fed Money, was suspended for 30 days and fined $500 for a medication violation. Fed money finished first in the 10th race at Churchill Downs on November 4, 2021. The suspension is to be served from March 1, 2022 through March 15, 2022. Mr. Baker is denied the privileges of all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
Suzanne Zelman, trainer, was fined $500 for failing to tend to business in a proper manner. She had to scratch the 6th race at Aqueduct Racetrack on March 5th 2022.
