West Ham Premier League relegation prediction shared by Chris Sutton

Chris Sutton believes all clubs from “West Ham downwards” in the Premier League table are in “real trouble” of being relegated this season.

The Hammers currently sit 15th in the standings with 31 points to their name following the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday (16 April).

The East London outfit are just four points off 18th place and just eight points off rock-bottom Southampton.

“I think West Ham downwards are in real trouble,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“Everyone forgets West Ham’s game in hand is against Manchester City.”

Dangerous times

It was a very good weekend for West Ham who, along with their superb draw against league leaders Arsenal, saw many of their relegation rivals suffer damaging defeats.

Southampton, Everton and Leicester all lost on Saturday (18 April) against Crystal Palace, Fulham and Manchester City respectively.

And on Sunday, the good results for the Hammers kept coming as Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0.

Leeds United were then hammered 6-1 at home to Liverpool on Monday (17 April) in a double blow for the Whites, whose goal difference also took a major hit.

Importantly, however, none of those clubs are balancing other commitments, with West Ham still having to focus on their Europa Conference League campaign.

But in a huge boost, West Ham have a game in hand over their closest competitors, but as Sutton alluded to, that game is against high-flying Manchester City, in what is set to be a very difficult clash for David Moyes’s side.
