The East hasn’t won an NBA all star game since 2014. The West has a chance to win its fourth straight game under this format. Let’s preview the 2024 NBA All-Star Game and give out a Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks prediction.
East All Stars Betting Preview
The East will be led by head coach Doc Rivers, and he’ll have two of his players in the starting lineup in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. With this game taking place in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the crowd will be in favor of the East with Tyrese Haliburton on the court. Jayson Tatum rounds out the starting five, as Joel Embiid obviously won’t be able to suit up. The East bench has four first time selections in Paolo Banchero, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey and Scottie Barnes. Donovan Mitchell is the old man on the East bench as he’s in the all star game for a fifth time. Overall, the East has a nice combination of youth and experience, and there are a lot of defensive capable players. If the East takes things seriously, it has the potential to get stops down the stretch to squeeze out a victory.
West All Stars Betting Preview
The West will be led by head coach Chris Finch, and he’s dealing with an experienced roster. Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Nikola Jokic are the starting five for the West. The West bench includes Stephen Curry, Paul George, Devin Booker and Kawhi Leonard. The West all stars roster doesn’t have a single first time selection. This is a group of guys who have been there done that as this is as established of a team as you can get. The West knows what to expect in these sorts of games, and they’ve had the success over the years when it was under the East vs. West format.
East vs West NBA All-Star Prediction
The West should be obvious favorites in this spot because they’re absolutely loaded with some of the best players in the world who have been here, done that many times over. The East has many first timers and young players who are still trying to find their place in this league. However, in all star games, I usually lean toward the points. Neither team is going to play much defense until maybe the final five minutes or so, and it’s simply going to be a matter of the three balls falling. The total is set at 363 points!!!! It’s still a coin flip overall, given that both teams allow each other to score for the majority of the game. I throw some McDonald's money on the underdog and call it a day. Give me the East.
