Team news
England head coach Eddie Jones named his England team to face France on Friday. Northampton full-back George Furbank gets a start following news of Anthony Watson’s withdrawal with a bad calf, while Joe Marler starts ahead of the injured Mako Vunipola at prop and Charlie Ewels is selected in the second-row ahead of George Kruis.
Fabien Galthié announced his side on Thursday. The youthful selection sees Montpellier duo Anthony Bouthier and Mohamed Haouas making their international debuts.
Coach Fabien Galthié named a total of 19 uncapped players in his Six Nations squad, as he aims to begin building a brighter future for the French game.
However, Damian Penaud withdrew from the matchday squad for France on Saturday, meaning Vincent Rattez replaces the wing while Arthur Vincent occupies his space on the bench.
At last year’s tournament, the teams played at Twickenham in the second round, where France were duly thumped 44-8, with Jonny May scoring a 30-minute hat-trick.
With the home advantage this time around, France will be looking to exact some revenge upon their rivals, especially given they have won six of their 10 home games against England in the Six Nations.
