Who Do We Blame If the Timberwolves Flop?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team that impressed last year. Glen Taylor is on his way out. The team hired a top executive and traded future hypothetical assets for Rudy Gobert. Wolves fans are high on their team's ability to contend. Caesar’s Sportsbook has the Timberwolves as a favorite to win the NBA Championship at +3500.

The Timberwolves are having a promising season. Karl-Anthony Towns is coming off the best season of his career. Anthony Edwards, Gobert, Karl and D’Angelo Russell are stars. Chris Finch is leading the way.

The expectations are lower for the Timberwolves team than for LeBron James' Heat. Towns and Gobert are All-NBA Third Teamers. Edwards is still too young to garner much blame for his play. McDaniels is developing in his third season. Kyle Anderson is a ball-mover on offense. The rest of the bench mob won't play enough to affect the game in a meaningful way.  The Wolves are expected to start the season below .500. They haven't seen a competent defense since Kevin Garnett. It's unlikely that they will be able to win many games. Their fans will probably be happy if they play competent defence.
