World Cup 2022 day 17: Schedule, matches and what to expect

The fourth and final day of the Qatar 2022 World Cup last-16 phase will see Morocco take on Spain and Portugal go head-to-head with Switzerland.

Spain and Morocco are playing each other in the last-16 on Tuesday. Spain beat Costa Rica 7-0 in their opening game and finished second in Group E behind Japan. Morocco beat Croatia and Belgium to top Group F and are making their second appearance in a knockout phase.

Cesar Azpilicueta has recovered from an injury he got playing against Japan. Morocco's Achraf Hakimi is still recovering from a thigh injury sustained in the Atlas Lions’ opening match against Croatia.

Portugal and Switzerland have already played each other twice this year in the Nations League, winning one game apiece. Switzerland beat Portugal 4-0 in early June and 1- 0 a week later. Portugal topped their qualification group, scoring six goals across three matches.

Ronaldo was substituted in Portugal's 2-1 loss to South Korea. Coach Fernando Santos was not happy with Ronaldo's behaviour. Ronaldo has been captain of Portugal in their first three World Cup games. Switzerland are aiming to reach the World cup quarter-finals for the first time in 68 years. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer and defender Nico Elvedi are fit to play against Portugal.
