World Cup 2022: The tournament so far

There are two games remaining at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. France or Argentina are likely to be crowned winners on Sunday afternoon.

The second week of competition saw Germany knocked from the competition and Japan pulling off another huge upset against Spain to qualify first in Group E. Uruguay fell victim to a late South Korea strike. Uruguay turned a comfortable 2-0 lead against Ghana into a frantic scramble for one more goal.

England won all three of their group games. They beat Iran 6-2 and Senegal 3-0. Their quarter-final match with France was billed as a make or break moment. It was a draw. The Three Lions have a young squad full of talent. Brazil and Spain are out of the competition at the quarter final stage. England have the potential to improve. World Cup 2022 is in 2022. They are currently the narrow underdogs at 2/1 with Croatia an 11/8 chance.

Richarlison's bicycle-kick against Serbia in the group stages is the best goal of the tournament so far. Vinicius Jr. had already scored for Brazil. Luis Chavez's rocket for Mexico against Saudi Arabia and the Netherland's free-kicks in their quarter final with Argentina are also contenders.

Argentina's epic quarter final against the Netherlands is the game of the tournament so far. There were passages of brilliant football, moments of madness and a record 18 yellow cards. The game ended in a penalty shootout.

France and Argentina are playing in the World Cup final on Sunday. Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are tied for the Golden Boot. France are 9/5 to win the tournament. Argentina haven't won the trophy since 1986. They are 17/10 favourites. Kyliana Mbapke is 7/4 to beat him.
