World Cup Odds: England-Iran prediction, odds and pick

The Group B stage kicks off with the English and Iranians playing to determine who gets the early points in the group stage. The English have competed in World Cup tournament since 1950, but they have only won the World cup tournament one time. They failed to make it past the first group round three times in their history, including as recently as 2014. Iran have failed three previous times to qualify for the finals, falling just short in 1974, 1978, and 1994.

England is getting older but still has the talent to pull out a Group B win against Iran. Gareth Southgate managed the Brits and runs a 3-4-3 formation.

Harry Kane is the boss and one of the best players in the world. Raheem Sterling can get the Brits going. Bukayo Saka and Harry Maguire can take some pressure off Kane. Jordan Pickford is a goalkeeper for the England team. He has been on a bad team for most of his career. England will beat Iran if they generate some chances. The team will win if it can generate chances and keep calm.

Iran will beat England if they can stall the stars on the British squad and avoid allowing the Brits to control possession for most of the contest. Sardar Azmoun has a calf problem and his health is a concern. Etan Hajsafi is the captain of Iran and has experience in big tournaments.
