World Cup Predictions Round One

Last Word on Football takes a break from Premier League predictions to provide World Cup predictions. Qatar's World cup 2022 takes place during the winter. Karim Benzema is injured and ruled out for the next four weeks.

Qatar are hosting their first World Cup. They play their opening match against Ecuador. Joe Blackburn, Joseph Howes, Jamie Rooke, Jordan Hackett, Dan Hepburn and Joe Wilshere predict Ecuador will win the match 2-0.

The Netherlands are favourites to win the World Cup against Senegal. Sadio Mane is absent from the whole tournament. The Dutch will begin their 2022 campaign with a straightforward win.

USA take on Wales in their first World Cup match. Tyler Adams' side is full of Premier League talent. Joe Blackburn, Joseph Howes, Jamie Rooke, Jordan Hackett and Dan Hepburn predict a 1-0 victory for USA.

Denmark are in Group D and play Tunisia. Joe Blackburn, Joseph Howes, Jamie Rooke, Jordan Hackett and Dan Hepburn predict a 2-0 victory for Denmark.

Mexico play Poland in the first World Cup game. Mexico lost to Sweden in a World cup warm-up game, but they are likely to show themselves on the big stage in Qatar. Poland had a disappointing 2018 campaign with Robert Lewandowski failing to score.

France's confidence is low going into the game against Australia. Karim Benzema and Christopher Nkunku are injured. Australia are in better form than France. France are the reigning champions. Previous World Cup winners have crashed out at the group stages in all of the last three tournaments.

Morocco play Croatia in World Cup Group F. Croatia are unbeaten and have won their last five games.

Germany and Japan are playing each other in the World Cup. Germany finished bottom of their group at the last World Cups. Japan reached the round of 16 last time and were knocked out by a last minute winner for Belgium.

Spain are one of the favourites heading into the 2022 World Cup. They won their most recent Nations League group. Costa Rica have a good team but Spain has a better quality squad.

Belgium are playing Canada in the World Cup. Joe Blackburn, Joseph Howes, Jamie Rooke, 2-1, Jordan Hackett, 3-0 and Dan Hepburn predict a 3/3 draw.

Switzerland are playing against Cameroon in their first match of their 2022 World Cup campaign. Breel Embolo will be looking to score in the match.

Uruguay are the favourites to win the World Cup. They are playing South Korea in the first match. Joe Blackburn, Joseph Howes, Jamie Rooke, Jordan Hackett and Dan Hepburn predict Uruguay will win 2-1.

Portugal play Ghana in the World Cup. Joe Blackburn and Jamie Rooke are predicting a draw. Dan Hepburn is predicting 1-1 draw between the two teams.

Brazil take on Serbia in the first match of the tournament. Brazil come into this competition with an incredible run of form, having only one loss in last few years.
