Yankees pitcher Aroldis Chapman is preparing for possible return. He has been working out in his home gym and watching the Yankees' playoff opener. The Yankees won 4-1 over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of their Division Series.

Chapman is watching ALDS Game 1 on TV. He is staying at home in Florida. Chapman quit on the Yankees last Friday because he wasn't assured a spot on their AL Divisional Series roster. The GM fined him $10,000. Aaron Boone doesn't rule out Chapman being allowed to return and compete for a roster spot if Yankees advance to the American League Championship Series. Chapman will be a free agent after the season. His control problems and a lack of success with the save opportunities have hurt him.
