Zion Williamson was one of the more celebrated NBA prospects of a generation. So far, the returns have not matched the hype.

Injuries, of course, have been a huge part of the Zion story. The Pelicans forward has managed just 29 games over the last two years, and in four pro seasons has 114 games under his belt.

Few will deny his talent, but Williamson has been tough to rely on for a Pelicans team that was built around him to compete. It's offered up questions as to whether New Orleans is ready to move on. The return on a Zion Williamson trade would be massive.

Williamson was considered a can’t-miss NBA superstar after two years in high school. The hype never relented. He played just one season at Duke, where he was a mainstay on “SportsCenter” and on Instagram pretty much each time the Blue Devils played. When the Pelicans won the NBA draft lottery to secure his rights, it was party time once again in New Orleans.

But the Pelicans haven't reached the heights they expected, in large part due to Zion's inability to get on the court. His drama-laden offseason, one that includes reports that he was healthy enough to play but chose not to, may have Pels management thinking now is the time to sell. He has five years left on a max deal, so any team that trades for him gets him for a while

ESPN reports that so far, Zion has not been offered in any offseason trades. New Orleans knows Zion is a unicorn of a talent. An oft-hobbled unicorn, perhaps. If a team wants to take a leap, could the Pelicans be swayed>

New Orleans reportedly fell in love with NBA Draft prospect Scoot Henderson, a 6-foot-2 point guard who played for G League Unite last season. Henderson checks all the boxes as a potential star PG and floor leader, but he was drafted No. 3 by the Portland Trail Blazers.

With the writing on the wall in Portland, Damian Lillard has sought a trade. A "fresh start" blockbuster involving Lillard and Zion could be what's best for both sides. It also reunites Lillard with former Blazers backcourt mate CJ McCollum.

If New Orleans is to move on from Zion, sending him to Portland is perfect for both sides.

The New York Knicks own more tradeable draft picks than anyone, and Julius Randle who could be swapped in the lineup. The Houston Rockets own pick No. 4 and have the most cap money to play with this off-season. All three teams may have the right combination to acquire Zion.

The Charlotte Hornets were considered contenders for Zion prior to the NBA Draft. Those rumors proved to be unfounded; in fact, Charlotte preferred Pelicans teammate Brandon Ingram over Zion in any trade scenario.
