Wake Forest notched its sixth winning season under Head Coach Dave Clawson in 2022 (8-5), though it still finished near the bottom of the ACC with a 3-5 conference record.
Winning consistently within the conference has so far proven elusive for Clawson’s squad, but he’s shown he can field a competitive team year-in and year-out during his tenure.
The Deamon Decons’ 2023 campaign slate begins with winnable games against Elon, Vanderbilt, Old Dominion and Georgia Tech.
October is where things really get interesting, as Wake has road clashes against Clemson, Virginia Tech, Duke, Notre Dame and Syracuse.
Oh, and they’re also taking on Florida State during that brutal stretch.
A peek at the schedule suggests a team getting off to a 4-0 start before running into a brick wall in the month of October.
Following the transfer departure of quarterback Sam Hartman, redshirt sophomore Mitch Griffis is expected to take the reins under center for the Demon Deacons.
He’ll helm the ACC’s top scoring offense in 2022, but with top wideout Donavon Greene set to miss the entire season with a knee injury, he’ll be without one of the offense’s top weapons.

Plainly put: It would take some kind of miracle for Wake Forest to win the NCAA National Championship.
