4 Canadiens Players Who Could Be Traded Soon

Joel Edmundson has returned to the Montreal Canadiens' lineup. Evgenii Dadonov was put on injured reserve with a virus. He will be back next week. Montreal needs to make a move to keep the team at the 23-man maximum.

Jonathan Drouin has been a disappointment since he was traded from Tampa Bay Lightning to Montreal. He has two points this season and has only been injured a lot. Druin is a free agent at the end of the season. He could be a good fit for a team like Colorado Avalanche or Washington Capitals.

Evgenii Dadonov was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights for Shea Weber's contract. He hasn't scored a point in eight games this season and is now on the IR with a mysterious virus. Dad onov is on an expiring contract with the Montreal Canadiens. With the Capitals losing Conner Brown for most of the season, Dad could take his place in Washington.

Mike Hoffman was brought to Montreal to help the team's power play and provide more offence. Last season he scored a career-low of 15 goals with only 11 PP points. He has only two points this season in 10 games.

Hoffman has a year left on his contract at $4.5 million. He is cheaper than Dadonov and Drouin, but their expiring contracts are more accessible for other clubs. Hoffman needs skilled players on the line to support him. Sean Couturier is out for an extended period with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Edmundson is back and Mike Matheson is coming back. Chris Wideman is one of two right-handed defencemen on the team. He came from the Kontinental Hockey League and played well last season. The young players have played very well and earned their ice time. Widman re-signed this season at the league minimum for the next two years. If a move can't be made, someone will have to go on waivers. If the players that were mentioned above are not a waiver-exempt rookie, they could be traded.
