Gary Wiltshire lost £1.4 million on Frankie Dettori's horse Fujiyama Crest at Ascot in 1996. He was on his way to Worcester when he was involved in a car accident on the M40 and had to turn around and go to Ascott. He had a gastric sleeve operation and was back to working as a barrow boy in London. The money he lost was recovered but he had no more money to bet on other horses. Frankie is retiring at the end of 2023. His horse won the race. Wilttsshire had lost over a million.
