Brewers vs. Diamondbacks prediction and odds for Wednesday, April 12 (Back Arizona at home)

The Diamondbacks and Brewers play the rubber match of a three-game series in Arizona on Wednesday afternoon.

Milwaukee has jumped out to the NL Central lead early on, but will need to rely on the back of its rotation to hold off an over .500 D-Backs team that has shown they are more than capable of hanging with the NL elite so far this season.

Brewers vs. Diamondbacks prediction and pick

The Brewers have leaned heavily on its ability to generate walks this season. The team is hitting an above average .260 at the plate so far this season, but is drawing a base on balls at 12%, the second highest in baseball this season.

They face one of the Diamondbacks prized pitching prospects in Drey Jameson, who will make his first start of the year after three successful outings out of the bullpen so far in 2023. Jameson has showcased strong control on the mound in his minor league career to date and in a limited sample in the big leagues. If he is able to avoid walks, he should have command over this Brewers lineup that is heavily reliant on it.

On the other side, the emerging Arizona offense has the edge that makes me believe they are being undervalued at home. Janson Junk toes the rubber for the Brewers, his first season with the club and third in the bigs. So far, he has posted a 4.74 ERA in 24 2/3 innings across seven appearances and is off a poor Spring Training showing this season, allowing five earned runs in eight innings of work.

I can’t justify the Brewers being a near coin flip to the Diamondbacks on the road with Junk on the mound. Not to mention, the upside of Jameson makes me bullish the home favorite can outperform expectations.
